Environment, eco-driving, noise, LSVA (basics)

Drivers must avoid unnecessary noise and smoke, switch off the engine even during short stops and observe exhaust maintenance; an anticipatory, low-rev driving style saves fuel. Heavy vehicles over 3.5 t are subject to the heavy vehicle charge (LSVA), which is based on the maximum permissible gross vehicle weight, the kilometres driven and the emission category.

From the key facts

  • VRV Art. 33: no avoidable noise – among other things, no unnecessary running of the engine, no high idling speeds, no excessively fast acceleration, no careless loading and unloading.
  • VRV Art. 34: no avoidable smoke; switch off the engine even during shorter stops if this does not delay driving off.

All key facts, the questions with explanations and the exam simulation are part of the course.
