Question 1: You are driving a coach with a tour group (professional passenger transport). From what blood alcohol level are you driving ‘under the influence of alcohol’?
- From 0.50 per mille
- From 0.10 per mille
- From 0.80 per mille
Show answer
Correct answer: From 0.10 per mille
In professional passenger transport, driving under the influence of alcohol is prohibited. You are under the influence from as little as 0.10 per mille, which in practice amounts to an alcohol ban. The general limit of 0.5 per mille does not apply to you at the wheel of the coach.
Legal reference: VRV Art. 2a para. 1 let. b; VRV Art. 2a para. 2 let. b
Question 2: What is the maximum breath alcohol level a driver in licensed scheduled services may have so that it is not ‘driving under the influence of alcohol’?
- Less than 0.25 mg/l
- Less than 0.40 mg/l
- Less than 0.05 mg/l
Show answer
Correct answer: Less than 0.05 mg/l
On journeys in licensed passenger transport, driving under the influence of alcohol is prohibited. You are under the influence from a breath alcohol level of 0.05 mg/l. 0.25 mg/l is the general limit for other drivers and is too high here.
Legal reference: VRV Art. 2a para. 1 let. a; VRV Art. 2a para. 2 let. a
Question 3: For which of the following journeys does the ban on driving under the influence of alcohol (limit 0.10 per mille) apply?
- Private holiday trip in your own car with a permanent driving licence
- Service bus of a licensed transport undertaking
- Paid group trip in a minibus (professional passenger transport)
- Coach on a trip from Zurich to Milan (cross-border passenger transport)
Show answer
Correct answer: Service bus of a licensed transport undertaking · Paid group trip in a minibus (professional passenger transport) · Coach on a trip from Zurich to Milan (cross-border passenger transport)
The ban applies, among others, to licensed and cross-border passenger transport by road and to all professional passenger transport, i.e. also with a minibus. It does not apply to a private trip in your own car, provided you do not hold a probationary driving licence.
